Each year the Annual Fund supports the entire Elgin Academy community. This Annual Fund Campaign for the 2016-2017 school year will take place during the months of October and November and will end on November 29th, which is Giving Tuesday, a national day of philanthropy. While gifts will be accepted until the end of our fiscal year on June 30, 2017, your gift will make the biggest impact if you give or pledge during our campaign. Thank you!

What is Annual Fund?

Annual Fund is our yearly fundraiser that supplements the resources of our operating budget. Gifts to the fund provide a margin of excellence in three particular areas that best enable active teaching: curriculum enhancements, faculty professional development, and technology for the classrooms. Each year, Elgin Academy families, alumni, and friends donate to Annual Fund.

How is Annual Fund used?

Donations to Annual Fund are utilized in a variety of ways. In the last year alone, gifts to the Annual Fund gave eight teachers the opportunity to attend the IDEA:TE 2016 Conference, where they learned how to integrate traditional and emerging technologies curriculums. Your gifts supported our Upper School students who discussed Hammurabi’s Code and how the law of 1754 B.C. relates to today’s world. Gifts also made possible the Middle School Project Based Learning garden, which was designed and planted by students. Donations to Annual Fund strengthened our athletic program and helped send our Boys’ Soccer and Baseball teams to sectional competitions. Students in 1st grade wrote, produced, and performed their own plays, and 5th graders spent the day at Mount Olympus as their favorite gods and goddesses. Students of all ages experienced virtual field trips thanks to the Google Expedition Pioneer Program. Our arts program flourished with theater and musical performances in every division, including Lion King Kids; Bye, Bye, Birdie, Jr; and Songs for a New World.

Why should I give?

Each year, your gift to Annual Fund, no matter the size, makes an immediate impact. Every gift counts, and builds on the next gift to make a strong and vibrant learning community. Your gift will inspire others to give. We are pleased to announce that 100% of our Faculty and Staff have already made gifts to the 2016-2017 Annual Fund. We are also proud that for the two previous years we had 100% participation from our Faculty and Staff, as well as from our graduating class. Please join them in making a gift in this and each year.
