Partnership in Education
The Partnership in Education program awards needs-based scholarships to Upper School students. In order to build the diverse and lively school community that is so essential to authentic learning, Elgin Academy recruits and enrolls qualified students without regard to their ability to pay, up to the limit of funds available for financial aid. The Partnership in Education program awards needs-based scholarships to Upper School students from Elgin and surrounding communities with this goal in mind. Donors provide tuition support for one or more students and Elgin Academy funds the remainder of the students’ need. Scholar candidates are identified by means of active outreach by the Academy's administrative and volunteer leadership. The Academy's Admission Office solicits referrals from several area public and private school teachers and guidance counselors and recipients must satisfy the Academy's selective admission requirements.
Partnership in Education Scholars not only benefit from the unique educational opportunities they receive here but also contribute a great deal to our school. They all participate in co-curricular activities and contribute tremendously to our athletic and fine arts programs. Perhaps not coincidentally, they also donate time to community service projects, both through the school and on their own. The beneficiaries of this particular fund are former Summit Academy students, and the fund itself was started to salute the work of two educators who meant a great deal to many students’ lives.
