Our
New Space
• The new Media, Science and Fine Arts Center
will benefit all four divisions, Early Childhood, Lower School,
Middle School, and Upper School, serving as a “campus hub” for
everyone.
• A new Library will provide ample space to increase the print and
electronic collections that complement the EA curriculum, and will
be fully integrated with the computer technology resources of the
Academy.
• The Fine Arts Department and virtually all Fine Arts activities
will be served by the new Center. The Black Box Theatre will serve
the needs of all EA students, as well as providing performance space
for many other venues.
The Benefits
• This new building is the
first on campus since the late 1960’s.
• The new building and what it brings to the Academy will help us to
recruit new students and attract and retain great faculty members.
• It will allow us to accommodate our growth and the River Road
students.
• It will increase the Academy’s visibility and help revitalize
downtown Elgin.
The Environment
• The building is designed as
an environmentally sensitive, LEED-certified structure under the
criteria of the U.S. Green Building Council.
• The building will be economical to operate, especially over the
long-run.
• It will be good for learning, good for the environment, and good
for the Academy’s financial future.
