Upper School College Counselor/History Teacher

[Posted: 4/24/13] The position is as a 1.0 FTE Upper School College Counselor/History Teacher for the 2013-2014 school year. The ideal candidate will have the requisite skills to guide students and families through the college process, including but not limited to college selection, the application process, and the financial aid process.  Additionally, the ideal candidate is passionate about teaching history, knowledgeable of the cognitive and developmental needs of the Upper School student, and a collaborative team member. Elgin Academy seeks someone who has strong communication, writing, and organizational skills in addition to being well-versed in history concepts; this person should also be capable of planning comprehensive lessons that foster in students a love of learning.
