Kimball Street Theatre

The latest addition to Elgin Academy’s fine arts facilities is the Kimball Street Theatre (KST)—a black box theatre with multiple configurations and seating up to 300.  The KST is located on the 1^st floor of the Rider Center (with sound booth, tech decks, and box office on the second floor). Public entrances to the theatre are available on the south side of the Rider Center (the 2^nd floor Public Entrance) and on the east side of the Rider Center (3^rd floor Student Entrance).

Parking is available for most performances in any of the school’s parking lots.

The KST hosts scores of programs featuring Elgin Academy students, faculty, and alumni throughout the year.  In addition, the KST provides a venue for many Elgin-based fine arts organizations:

• Elgin Opera—the corporate offices of this opera company are located in Room 207 of the Rider Center; virtually all auditions, rehearsals, and performances take place in the KST.  Elgin Opera website

• Other groups using the KST include: Children’s Theatre of Elgin, Elgin Choral Union, the Elgin YMCA, various dance and music schools, etc.
