2012-13 Athletic Camp Offerings

The Elgin Academy Athletic Department aims to provide various opportunities for student-athletes to develop, enhance, and improve competence, knowledge, and skills through productive camp opportunities. Our camps involve a variety of fundamental physical activity skills that are inherent to active lifestyle and physical fitness. To register for any camp, download the registration form below and return with payment to Athletic Director Dewayne Robinson. If you have any questions about any of the programs listed on this page, contact the Athletic Office at 847-695-0309. Coach Robinson's Winter Shooting Camp

Grades: 6th - 12th

Dates: December 20 & 21, 2012

Time: 12:30pm - 2:30pm

Instructor: Dewayne Robinson, Athletic Director and Varsity Boy's Basketball Coach

Coach Robinson is offering a two day shooting camp that will specialize and focus on proper shooting mechanics and techniques. Coach Robinson will work with each camper individually to evaluate their shooting form and make proper adjustments that will increase accuracy and consistency. Each step of the shot will be broken down, utilizing drills that will help campers continuously improve their shooting stroke and distance. Basketballs and instruction is provided. Campers need to bring proper gym attire and basketball shoes.

Coach Robinson's Post Play Clinic

Grades: 6th - 12th

Dates: December 27 & 28, 2012

Time: 2:30pm - 4:30pm

Instructor: Dewayne Robinson, Athletic Director and Varsity Boy's Basketball Coach

Coach Robinson is offering his two day post play clinic for the first time during winter break. This camp will specialize on the ability to score and operate around the basket.  Coach Robinson will work with each camper individually on skills such as establishing the post, footwork, balance, rebounding, and screening. In addition, campers will be drilled through an arsenal of post moves that they can incorporate into their game play. Each move will be broken down and taught the correct way, ensuring campers utilize the moves correctly and at the appropriate times. Basketballs and instruction is provided. Campers need to bring proper gym attire and basketball shoes.

Coach Shapiro's Winter Clinic

Grades: 6th - 12th

Dates: December 27, 28, & 31

Time: 11:00am - 2:00pm

Instructor: Steve Shapiro, Head Baseball Coach

Coach Shapiro is once again offering his 2nd annual holiday baseball clinic. This clinic is a structured, fundamentally sound baseball camp that promises to address ALL skill sets of the game. Bats, balls, and loads of instruction will be provided for each camper. Campers should bring gloves and indoor shoes for running.

Field Hockey Winter Break Camp

Grades: 5th - 8th

Dates: December 27 & 28

Time: 9:00am - 11:00am

Instructor: Melissa Dugan, MS Dean and MS Field Hockey Coach

Ms. Dugan is hosting her 2nd annual Winter Break camp for 5th - 8th graders interested in field hockey. Her camp focuses on the fundamentals of field hockey, increasing knowledge in stick use, etiquette, field management, conditioning, and strategic play. This two day camp will provide a great opportunity for personal development and instruction. Sticks are provided. Campers will need to bring shin guards and eye protection.

Fee: $50
