Elgin Academy 2019 | University of Illinois 2023
From the time she joined Elgin Academy in third grade until she graduated in 2019, Muskaan Siddique embodied the Hilltopper spirit. She embraced any and all opportunities that came her way and consistently excelled whether it be in academics, in leadership roles, or through her participation in the arts and athletics.
Academically, Muskaan excelled throughout her time at EA earning induction into the National Honor Society and the French National Honor Society. She was awarded the Excellence in History and the Excellence in Social Studies award and the Presidential Award for Outstanding Academic Excellence. At graduation, Muskaan was awarded the Mother-Daughter Award bestowed on the female graduate who best typifies the ideals and characters of Elgin Academy. Following her graduation in 2019, Muskaan's academic excellence continued at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where she was elected to Phi Alpha Theta (the History honor society) holding the position of Social Chair her Freshman year and Vice President her sophmore year. Muskaan has also been on the Dean's list every semester. She also continues her love of theatre as an actress with the U of I's What You Will Theatre Company.
At EA, Muskaan gained valuable leadership experience by serving on the Student Council all four years as class representative her Freshman and Sophomore years, then Vice President her Junior year and President her Senior year. Among other duties in this role, she helped to lead the weekly Upper School assemblies and to create spirit and community among the classes and within the school as a whole. Muskaan also took on leadership roles at The Cupola, EA’s student-run publication. Muskaan was Junior Editor her junior year and Co-Editor in Chief her senior year.
Muskaan first took to the stage in Middle School and found her happy place participating in numerous Elgin Academy theatre productions both on stage and behind the scenes earning membership in the International Thespian Society. But that’s not all, Muskaan also participated in field hockey throughout Upper School as well.
During the summer of 2020, Muskaan interned at the Elgin Historical Museum and plans to attend law school following her graduation from the U of I.
At Elgin Academy, I was provided the opportunities to advocate for myself and for others. I learned to put myself out there and to have the courage to take a leap of faith. I am forever indebted to all that Elgin Academy has given to my family and me Muskaan Siddique '19
