Elgin Academy 2020 and Beyond

Elgin Academy 2020 and Beyond Emphasizes:

  1. The development of our community focused on shared expectations and our mission, acknowledging that this is an experience that should engage the whole family. Our work is guided by the question:

How can we create the optimal community to engage our students, families, faculty/staff, and alums?

  2. The continued emphasis on the learning environment, in and out of the classroom. Our work is guided by the question:

How can we continue to develop the optimal learning environments in all of our divisions and programs to best serve our students?

  3. The ongoing emphasis on fiscal stewardship as we continue to analyze our enrollment and organizational structure and seek to spend the maximum amount on the student experience in all of our divisions. Our work is guided by the question:

How can we ensure that we manage our finances in a way that maximizes the number of dollars toward the enhancement of the student experience?

As a result we are:
  • Further realigning our administrative structure, combining the leadership of our lower and middle schools.

  • Reconsidering our use of the library/media center space on campus to retain our emphasis on library skills for students of all ages while creating a space that is more fully used.

  • Emphasizing innovation in our teaching.

  • Investigating a 365-day Early Childhood program.

  • Enhancing our summer programs, thereby providing different experiences for our students and students outside the current Academy family and developing revenue generating opportunities.

  • Continuing the emphasis on the learning environment, in and out of the classroom.

  • Advancing the ongoing emphasis on fiscal stewardship as we continue to pursue major donor and annual giving strategies, analyze our enrollment and review our organizational structure as we seek to spend the maximum amount on the student experience in all of our divisions.
