Welcome Alumni
Dear Elgin Academy Alumni, Despite the tremendous efforts of the Board, school leadership and other dedicated community members to find a path forward, the Elgin Academy Board determined that our model of an independent Preschool through 12th grade school is no longer sustainable in Elgin. It was with a heavy heart that, at their November 2023 meeting, the Board of Trustees voted that Elgin Academy will close at the end of the 2023-2024 school year. Learn More

An Elgin Academy alum, Sarah Summers (Class of '16) is a "Vaccine Angel" working with Illinois residents to help them find appointments for their COVID-19 vaccine. Sarah is featured along with Karen Davidson in this piece from NBC news which addresses the struggle of many Illinois residents to find vaccine appointments. We are proud of Sarah's commitment to the cause and her fulfillment of our mission to inspire students to become our creative, courageous, and compassionate future.
Congratulations to Elgin Academy alum Carolyn Ginder (Class of 2016) who recently graduated with a Master of Science in Sustainability Management from American University. Carolyn is currently employed at a startup called ecomedes as a Business and Marketing Development Analyst.
Recently, the family of Jeanne Marilyn Behmer-Wisniewski, class of 1946, generously donated a special souvenir -- a sterling silver spoon dated August 20, 1885 that features a detailed engraving of Old Main. When the family reached out to EA, we went to the yearbooks to learn a little more about Jeanne. She was at Elgin Academy for a single year, but was known as an artist by her peers. She was a member of the Aeichlorians, which was a popular girls group that was a campus fixture for many years. She was also a member of a discussion group called the Chameleons who, according to the yearbook, discussed a wide variety of topics including the many theories of reincarnation. She and fellow senior Tom Twyman, created two plaster sculptures that were accepted by the jury of the Regional High School Art Exhibition in Chicago. We are so grateful for the opportunity to walk down memory lane and learn at little more about our alums and EA in 1946.
Madigan Boborci (’19), a second year Aquatic Biology major and Feminist Studies minor at the University of California Santa Barbara, was recently selected as a Bentson Scholar in Aquatic Biology. The Bentson Scholarship, awarded by the Bentson Foundation, is a prestigious distinction given for excellence in academic performance. Bentson scholarships "support high-achieving aquatic biology students, in part, by affording them invaluable research opportunities as they pursue their educations in marine science." Keep up the outstanding work Madigan!
