Congratulations to Jimmy John Liautaud, Class of 1982, who is a recipient of the 2018 Horatio Alger Award.

Jimmy John joins 11 other esteemed business, civic and cultural leaders from across North America in receiving 2018 honors. For more than 70 years, the Horatio Alger Award has been annually bestowed upon admired leaders who have succeeded despite facing adversities, and who have remained committed to higher education and charitable efforts in their local communities.

Carol Gilbert Redeker 1933 and William Redeker 1936

Married 75 yearsCarol Gilbert Redeker '33 and Bill Redeker '36 of Ft Myers Beach, Florida and formerly long time residents of Elgin, celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary July 11, 2016 with a morning boat cruise and afternoon reception. Carol Gilbert and William E. Redeker were married July 11, 1941 in a garden ceremony in rural Elgin at the bride's home. They met while attending Elgin Academy. The anniversary reception was held at Shellpoint Village, Ft. Myers, Florida.
