Athletic News

Every athletic season we honor our seniors and although COVID does not allow us to do that in person this year, we can still congratulate the seniors on our boys basketball team. As Danyaal, Teddy and Sammy take their home court for the final time this year, we want them to know that they are appreciated! Here are a few words of appreciation from their coach.
Danyaal Sami: After playing JV basketball his freshman year, Danyaal decided to focus on his academics as a sophomore and junior. This year, when his school needed him most, “Dani” returned to the team to contribute his quickness, length and aggressiveness! His veteran presence and leadership has been appreciated by the young players.
Teddy Ellis: For four years Teddy Ellis has committed to our basketball program. Immediately, Teddy took to our culture of accountability and self improvement and started to work on his skills in his free time and during the off seasons. After spending 3 years in a leadership role with our junior varsity team, Teddy ascends to the role of Starter and team Captain as a senior. His work ethic and commitment to teamwork has never wavered and has been infectious for our young players. Awards won: Most Improved Player JV 2019, Sportsmanship Award JV 2020.
Samuel Basa: Samuel Basa is a four year Varsity Player at Elgin Academy. After splitting time on JV and V as a freshman and sophomore, Sammy grew both in height and confidence. A long and rangy defender with a silky smooth set shot, Sammy has played a major role in the growth of the program. While his basketball skills have been a big contributor to our success it is his leadership that will have the lasting impact on us for years to come. This year, our team and our school has needed a leader to demonstrate resolve and help us come together. Awards won: Most Improved 2018 JV, Most Valuable Player 2019 JV, Most Improved 2020 Varsity.

Zoom Yoga

Operation "Move Our Bodies" continues at EA. Coach Katie Kruse led a group of EA students and Coach Williams in another yoga session in December. Throughout this unusual year, the EA faculty and staff have worked with students to provide unique outlets to replace activities and opportunities for socializing that are no longer possible during the pandemic.
