3:30-4:30 pm - Practice and Captain Vote
Our team has depth, but not as much as today's opponent! We played well however.......Johnny Yavari, 43; Jonathan Vogt, 43; Alex Berlin, 52; Ryan Marusich, 53; Eli Peagues, 53, and Lucas Muffitt, 59. I am especially excited about how our team has developed from last year. We lost some seniors that may have left us without a 5th and 6th score, but "new talent" has moved in to replace them!
Once again we ran into a perennial ISL strong golf team. NSCD defeated our Hilltoppers, 166 v. 182. If you stood on the first tee, you would have thought we were going to win! We got off to a strong start, but the difficulty and uniqueness of the course ultimately got us. Johnny Yavari, 40 and Jonathan Vogt, 41 both turned in outstanding scores. Nikiel Karna, 48; Alex Berlin, 53; Eli Peagues, 54; and Ryan Marusich, 57 each played well, but know they can play better and have nowhere to go but up.
We averaged 45.5, while they averaged 41.5. We need to get to where we shoot around 165-170 for our four scores that count! We can do it!
I am very pleased with the progress of our players that were relatively new to golf last year, Eli Peagues and Alex Andrews.....keep it up guys!
I am very excited to report the results of our past two matches! Both were wins, and we are showing a great deal of improvement from key players.
Johnny Yavari - 40,40 ; Johnathan Vogt - 46,50; Nikiel Karna - 47,41 ; Alex Berlin - 45,46 ; Ryan Marusich - 58,49; Lucas Muffitt, 59 ; and Eli Peagues, 57
We will continue to rotate players in the 5th and 6th positions. It is safe to say that the players in positions 1 through 4, have earned their spots, but their positions within those spots may change. BUT, we are not going to focus on that! We play as a team, and for our team, not as individuals. I am witnessing a great deal of support between players within their playing groups and that is terrific!
Special shout-out to Johnny Y for two more great rounds, and Nikiel Karna for shooting his best score of the season (with more to come for sure!). In addition, we can always count on Jonathan Vogt and Alex Berlin for good scoring! And.....nice going Ryan Marusich for shooting 49, and "making his score count" in our last match!!
Lucas Muffitt and Eli Peagues are sharing the 6th spot for now. Very nice playing! Coach Carly and I are seeing very nice improvement in you both, and the entire JV team!
