By giving your expertise and your very valuable time to Elgin Academy, you send the message that you support our students and their learning and you are invested in the continued success of Elgin Academy.


All parents of Elgin Academy students are automatically members of the Parent Association, Athletic Boosters, and Patrons of the Arts. We have a full range of opportunities available for any level of time commitment. Alumni Outreach

The Elgin Academy experience lasts beyond graduation and we want to be sure to keep in touch with our alumni. Volunteers will assist with sending care packages to our newest graduates, help recruit alumni to attend certain events, and help in keeping contact information up to date.

Founders' Day Celebrations
February 14-22, 2019

Help us celebrate 180 years of EA! Our celebrations will include I Heart EA activities, a high tea, and a day of service. Volunteer opportunities are available to fit any schedule.

March 9, 2019

Extravaganza is our largest single fundraising event. This annual gala takes place in March, but preparations begin in November. Volunteers are needed for a variety of opportunities, with something to fit any time commitment.

Parent Association

Scholastic Book Fair
April 15-18, 2019

The Scholastic Book Fair is held twice a year: once in the fall and once in the spring. Proceeds from the Book Fair support our library collection. Volunteers help at the Book Fair by taking payments, answering questions, and helping the younger students fill out wish lists. Morning and afternoon shifts are available.

Varsity Store

Volunteers staff the store, which sells spirit wear and snacks throughout the course of the school year. Volunteers will also be needed to sell school products at EA events such as Homecoming. We have shifts of varying lengths available to accommodate any schedule.

International Night 
April 11, 2019

This fun family event kicked off last year at the suggestion of a current parent. Volunteers are needed for planning, set up, clean up, and bringing food or activities from another culture to share.

Faculty & Staff Appreciation
April 16-18, 2019

Teachers, administrators, and staff enjoy several days of treats and shows of appreciation, culminating with a luncheon on April 18. Volunteers help with planning and implementing the activities.

Plant Sale
May 2019

This sale of annuals from a local nursery is a favorite EA tradition. Volunteers are needed for collecting and placing the orders, as well as sorting and distribution on the day of delivery.

Athletic Booster Club

PACK Events

PACK events are a great way to show your school spirit! These events are home games for EA athletes and support is needed for concession sales, running halftime events, and generating excitement!

Pack the Place
February 2, 2019

This annual day of basketball games for all of our Middle School and Upper School teams is a great chance to support EA Athletics.  Volunteers help with ticket and concession sales.

Golf Outing
June 10, 2019

Each year members of our EA community come together for a day of golf, games, food, and friendship to support our EA athletic programs. Volunteers are needed for planning as well as the day of the event. No golf experience is needed!

Patrons of the Arts


Performance Assistance 

The Elgin Academy Arts Department puts on a variety of productions in each division throughout the school year. The arts faculty need creative assistance behind the scenes to prepare costumes, props, and sets.


Many of our productions also include a reception to celebrate our performers, and volunteers will provide treats as well as organize the events.


Early Childhood/Lower School

Lower School Events and Receptions

A variety of events and receptions are held throughout the year by the Lower School. Some examples include Back to School Coffee, Parent Night, VIP Day, the Winter Choral Concert, and the Last Day of School. Volunteers host the receptions and provide refreshments.

April 2019

Join Lower School on our yearly Immersion adventure, where students spend a month learning about the culture of another country. This year's destination - Brazil! Volunteers decorate North Hall and assist with planning and executing our Immersion closing activities on April 26.


Middle School

Middle School Events & Receptions

A variety of events and receptions are held throughout the year by the Middle School. Events include First Day of Classes, Parent Night, Stepping Up Night for 4th Grade Parents, and ERB week snacks. Volunteers provide refreshments as needed.

Middle School Student Parties

The Middle School hosts three parties for all students over the course of the year: a Halloween Party, a Winter Party, and a Valentine’s Day Ice Cream party. Volunteers provide refreshments, as well as organize and set up each of these events.

Biographers' Tea
February 1, 2019

Each year, our 5th and 6th Grade students transform themselves into historical figures and present their research to an audience. Volunteers support the faculty with decoration assistance and a reception.

8th Grade Graduation
June 3, 2019

Volunteers are needed to plan the graduation reception and to assist on the night of the event with set up, serving, and clean up.

Upper School

Post Prom 
April 5-6, 2019

After prom, attendees return to campus to spend Friday night into the early hours of Saturday morning relaxing and enjoying time with friends. Volunteers are needed for set up, chaperoning, and cleaning up.

June 1, 2019

This beautiful ceremony for our Seniors takes place on campus each year and everyone in the EA community is encouraged to join the celebration. Volunteers host the reception that follows.
