International Host Family Application Process

Step 1 - Application

Complete the online application below.

Step 2 - Visit and Interview

The Director of International Studies will contact you to answer any questions and to arrange a visit to your home. During the in-home interview/information session, the Director of International Studies will take photos of your home and complete a more detailed interview about your family.
Step 3 - Matched With a Student

Information from your interview will be used to match you with an International student who will be the best fit for your family's lifestyle. If matched with a student, that student's information will be shared with your family and an online interview with the student will be arranged.

Step 4 - Background Check

If you agree to host that student, you and anyone over the age of 18 in the household will be required to complete a fingerprinting and background check (paid for by Elgin Academy).
Step 5 - Orientation and Support
You will receive a hosting orientation prior to the student's arrival. Once the student arrives, you will receive continued support and guidance throughout the duration of your hosting experience.
