Bucks for Bears

The two weeks before Spring Break Ms. Nicholson's fourth graders held the COVID-19 version of a bake sale and sold a variety of packaged snacks and sweets to the three divisions of students at Elgin Academy. The students are raising money to purchase teddy bears to donate to the Elgin Police Department to distribute to children on emergency calls. For "Bucks for Bears" the students hosted the tables and used their best selling skills to raise lots of money for the cause. Great job 4th graders!

Pi Day

On March 14th the Upper School Students celebrated Pi Day. On that day students were challenged to recite as many numbers of Pi as they could for the chance to throw a real pie into the face of Assistant Head of School Doug Sept. And the winners are...Alex Sept (who recited 200 digits of pi) and Alex Richardson (who recited 178 digits) and so both got to utilize their pie tossing skills to great effect. Special thanks to Mr. Sept who is always a good sport! We hope you enjoy this video on YouTube. https://youtu.be/Xtze6RJM3aE

Battle of the Books

Congratulations to the Elgin Academy 2020/21 Battle of the Books team for a 2nd Place Finish in this year's fully on-line competition. This small but mighty team fought back from a late start to finish second overall in a field of over 20 schools who competed this year. We are so proud of Charlie (4th grade), Kasie (4th grade), Efe (6th grade), Omar (6th grade) and Rory (6th grade). Congratulations to you all!
